Hello!
Wow, it been hot here this last month! We had nothing but rain in May, and this month no rain and pure heat! Our air conditioners are working overtime.
We are expecting a few litters in July. I am looking forward to the birth of the puppies for lots of reasons other than just having puppies. (Gotta love puppy breath!)
I have been playing with video and slideshows and I am going to create a storybook of birth through 8 weeks of a puppy's life. There is a learning curve to putting it all together, but I am going to throw out my perfectionist personality -- stay tuned and I hope you enjoy.
I am in the process of putting together all the wonderful photos families have sent and their comments on getting a Wisteria Golden and will have them up on the website to share within a couple of weeks.

We are in the process of building a Wisteria Golden Fan Page on Facebook. I will have that information to you soon.
Hope all is well your way!
Many Blessings!

Things To Consider
Choosing the right vet for your dog is as important as choosing the right doctor for yourself.
I have had vets that really didn't interact with my dog. They did the exam, left the room, and that was it.
I want a vet that cares about my dog. Just as I want a doctor that cares about my well-being.
Things to consider when choosing a vet:
1. Seek Recommendations from family and friends
2. Make an appointment to meet and visit with the vet BEFORE your first visit.
3. Do you feel comfortable with talking with them?
4. Are the facilities clean?
5. Do they have referral services beyond their facilities or expertise?
6. Do they use holistic and alternative therapies?
7. Do they have emergency hours?
8. If not, who do you contact in case of an emergency?
It is important for your dog to have a check-up once a year. They need to be checked for parasites and be updated on any required vaccinations. An annual check-up helps to find any possible problems early.
Remember to maintain their weight within the proper range for them. Recent studies have shown that overfed dogs live, on average, two years less than dogs where proper weight is maintained.

VEGETABLE SOUP RECIPE
We recently had a couple of puppies start "woofing" their food down, like they were starving. They were growing and gaining weight properly, but just seemed hungry all the time.
I talked to my vet about this. He said some puppies just need more food to "fill up." But, they don't necessarily need more food, as long we they are growing and gaining weight, which was the case. He said that most of them outgrow this.
I did some research and found a vegetable soup recipe that you put over their kibble. It helps to fill them up and is nutritious while adding minimal calories to their diet.
2 large cans of chicken or beef broth - (low sodium for heart or elderly dogs- or homemade). Add LOTS of veggies- carrots, green beans, wax beans, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and couple cloves of garlic.
The idea is to use this as a filler so you want it to be hearty and filling.
You can also give snacks in-between meals, and treats with training, but keep them low fat.
If you are experiencing this with your dog or puppy, try this recipe and let me know how it works for you and your pet.
